Regular Season Round 26: Samara - Spartak-Prim. 79-76

The biggest surprise took place in Samara where host Samara (21-4) edged league's leader Spartak-Prim. (20-5) 79-76 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Spartak-Prim.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was point guard Anton Glazunov (185-86) who scored 21 points and 6 assists. Guard Vladimir Pichkurov (196-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Samara's coach Igor Grachev used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Alexey Kurtsevich (210-89) produced 20 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and the former international Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Four Spartak-Prim. players scored in double figures. Samara keeps a position of league leader. Spartak-Prim. at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Samara. Spartak-Prim. will play next round against strong Burevestnik trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Samara will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Temp in Revda.
