Regular Season Round 24: Apollon - E.N. Paralimni 81-83

The most exciting game of round 24 in the OPAP Basket League took place in Limassol. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Apollon (13-8) to sixth ranked E.N. Paralimni (10-12) 83-81 on Wednesday evening. E.N. Paralimni outrebounded Apollon 33-19 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American swingman Dalan Ancrum (198-96, college: W.Illinois) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import guard Nick Griffin (188-95, college: St.Peter's) contributed with 23 points for the winners. The former international point guard Stefanos Iliadis (185-94, college: S.Florida) replied with 24 points and 5 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and American forward Aundre Jackson (196-95, college: Loyola, IL) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Apollon. Five Apollon players scored in double figures. E.N. Paralimni moved-up to fifth place. Apollon lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. E.N. Paralimni will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Apollon will play on the road against Apoel in Nicosia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
