VTB-Youth League top team - Samara-2 (33-9) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked N.Novgorod-2 (18-24) in Nizhny Novgorod 108-66. The game was mostly controlled by Samara-2. N.Novgorod-2 was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Samara-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to N.Novgorod-2's 38 and made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded N.Novgorod-2 43-26 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by N.Novgorod-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Semyon Shevkoplias (185-0) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. Center Mikhail Ermilov (201-99) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Samara-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Vadim Orekhov (196-2) replied with 18 points and forward Yegor Chepik (197-0) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for N.Novgorod-2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samara-2 have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 33-9 record. N.Novgorod-2 at the other side keeps the ninth place with 24 games lost. Samara-2 will have a break next round. N.Novgorod-2 will play again at home against the league's leader Samara-2 (#1) and hope to win that game.
