Date: March 12, 2020
OPAP Basket League top team - Keravnos (19-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat sixth ranked Etha (9-12) in Strovolos 96-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Etha. The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. Etha managed to win fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by forward Jake OBrien (206-89, college: Temple, agency: HMS) who scored that evening 31 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard Ahmaad Rorie (185-95, college: Montana) supported him with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists by center Damontre Harris (208-91, college: Campbellsville) did not help to save the game for Etha. Guard Jeremy Smith (190-95, college: Nicholls St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keravnos have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-2 record. Loser Etha keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Omonia. Keravnos will meet Omonia (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Etha will play against the league's second-placed AEK Larnaca and hope to secure a win.
