No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Vostok-65 (16-10) beat 14th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (7-19) in Sankt Petersburg 94-77. Vostok-65 outrebounded Spartak St.Petersburg 44-21 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Nikita Balashov (207-91, agency: Alti Sport) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Ronshad Shabazz (196-96, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Vostok-65's coach Eduard Raud allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Ruslan Tumanov (195-91, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who recorded 18 points and 4 assists and guard Alexander Martynov (197-95) added 16 points and 5 steals respectively. Five Vostok-65 and four Spartak St.Petersburg players scored in double figures. Vostok-65 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with TSU. Spartak St.Petersburg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Vostok-65's next round opponent will be higher ranked Burevestnik (#3) in Yaroslav and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak St.Petersburg will play at home against the league's leader Spartak-Prim. (#1) and hope to win that game.
