Regular Season Round 3: Runa-2 - CSKA Junior 80-73

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Moscow: Runa-2 (#4) and CSKA Junior (#3). Runa-2 (3-1) won against visiting CSKA Junior (2-2) 80-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CSKA Junior. CSKA Junior was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Runa-2, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Runa-2 made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Yuriy Sonin (205-2) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Ilya Bogdanov (198-1) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Runa-2's coach Alexander Shabanov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Filipp Gafurov (212-1) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds and forward Alexander Maltsev (200-2) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four CSKA Junior players scored in double figures. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
