A very interesting game took place in Sankt Petersburg. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Zenit-2 (2-2) to first ranked N.Novgorod-2 (3-1) 74-71 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Zenit-2 was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 20-16 charge of N.Novgorod-2, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Zenit-2 turnovers. The winners were led by forward Ilya Sorokin (206-1, agency: Alti Sport) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Artem Orekhov (191-2) supported him with 15 points and 7 steals. Even 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists by guard Konstantin Shevchuk (192-0, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Zenit-2. Center Alexey Firsov (204-1) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. N.Novgorod-2 have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 3-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Zenit-2 at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
