VTB-Youth League top team - Lokomotiv-2 (5-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed fifth ranked N.Novgorod-2 (3-3) in Krasnodar 73-51. The game was mostly controlled by Lokomotiv-2. N.Novgorod-2 managed to win third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding N.Novgorod-2 to just 4 points in second quarter. Lokomotiv-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to N.Novgorod-2's 28. Lokomotiv-2 forced 22 N.Novgorod-2 turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lokomotiv-2 made 12 blocks. Forward Sergey Dolinin (204-0) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Kirill Elatontsev (207-2) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Yegor Chepik (197-0) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Vadim Orekhov (196-2) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lokomotiv-2 have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record. N.Novgorod-2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Samara-2 and Avtodor-2. Lokomotiv-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. N.Novgorod-2 will play on the road against CSKA Junior (#9) in Moscow and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
