Regular Season Round 6: Samara-2 - Khimki-2 71-81

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Khimki-2 (3-1) defeated on the road 4th ranked Samara-2 (3-3) 81-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Khimki-2. Samara-2 was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Samara-2 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Daniil Glazov (191-1) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and Armenian forward Alexey Chizhenok (198-1) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Danila Chikarev (197-1) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and center Maxim Vlasov (202-2) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Khimki-2 moved-up to third place, which they share with Runa-2. Samara-2 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Khimki-2 will have a break next round. Samara-2 will play on the road against Runa-2 (#4) in Moscow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
