Novosybirsk's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team.The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Univ.Surgut (1-2) 90-74 on Friday. Guard Sergey Tokarev (191-85) notched 16 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American forward Xavier Hill-Mais (201-96, college: Oakland) supported him with 19 points. Novosybirsk's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for Univ.Surgut. Center Nikita Ivanov (205-91, agency: Alti Sport) added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Novosybirsk and four Univ.Surgut players scored in double figures. Novosybirsk (1-0) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Samara. Loser Univ.Surgut dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. They share it with Uralmash. Novosybirsk will meet at home Irkut (#13) in the next round where they are favorite. Univ.Surgut will play against Vostok-65 and hope to win that game.
