Regular Season Round 6: Winterthur - Aarau 77-59

Bottom-ranked Aarau (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-59 loss to top-ranked Winterthur (3-0) in Winterthur on Wednesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aarau's 26. Winterthur forced 23 Aarau turnovers and outrebounded them 49-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Olha Yatskovets (188-97, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Winterthur's coach Daniel Rasljic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Albanian-Greek swingman Enisa Semanjaku (181-88) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Katja Wasser (182-0) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Winterthur have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fribourg. Aarau at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Winterthur is looking forward to face Troistorrents (#5) at home in the next round. Aarau will play against Helios in Vetroz and hopes to get finally their first victory.
