Regular Season Round 8: Khimki-2 - Zenit-2 63-74

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Khimki-2 (4-2) against fifth ranked Zenit-2 (5-3) on Sunday night. Host Khimki-2 was defeated by Zenit-2 in Khimki 74-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Khimki-2. It looked good early as Khimki-2 took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zenit-2 had a 21-11 second period charge getting the lead and Khimki-2 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-74. They outrebounded Khimki-2 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Khimki-2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Konstantin Shevchuk (192-0, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Semen Krasilshchikov (197-0) who added 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Forward Maksim Beloshapko (199-2) responded with 7 points and 5 rebounds and forward Vladislav Odinokov (203-0) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zenit-2 moved-up to fourth place. Khimki-2 at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Zenit-2 will play against Parma-2 (#10) in Perm in the next round where they are favorite. Khimki-2 will play at home against the league's leader Lokomotiv-2 (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
