Very expected game when 12th ranked MBA-2 (1-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Samara (6-2) 89-73 on Saturday. Samara dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to MBA-2's 32 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Samara looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by MBA-2's players. 24 personal fouls committed by MBA-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Julia Poluyanova (187-92) who scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Yana Kotova (186-88) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Pozdnyakova Anna (181-0) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ekaterina Koshechkina (189-2) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Samara maintains third position with 6-2 record behind leader Rostov. MBA-2 at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Dynamo-En.IVA. Samara will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. MBA-2 will play at home against Dynamo-Farm (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
