Regular Season Round 7: Metallurg MGN - Cheb.Yastreby 66-107

The game between third ranked Metallurg MGN (4-3) and sixth ranked Cheb.Yastreby (4-2) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Metallurg MGN was crushed by Cheb.Yastreby in Cheliabinsk 107-66. Cheb.Yastreby dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Metallurg MGN's 38. Cheb.Yastreby forced 25 Metallurg MGN turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Metallurg MGN helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Pavel Koltsov (180-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Power forward Anton Bogdan (198-86) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Cheb.Yastreby's coach Sergei Hudaev felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Stanislav Sarafankin (200-93) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Georgiy Korotyaev (196-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Cheb.Yastreby and four Metallurg MGN players scored in double figures. Cheb.Yastreby moved-up to third place, which they share with Dynamo STV. Metallurg MGN at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Cheb.Yastreby is looking forward to face Chelbasket (#7) in Chelyabinsk in the next round. Metallurg MGN will play at home against Neftekhimik T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
