Regular Season Round 9: Rusichi K. - Metallurg MGN 78-74

Another upset was a game between Metallurg MGN (5-4) and Rusichi K. (3-6), which took place in Kursk. 4th placed Metallurg MGN lost to ninth ranked Rusichi K. in a road game 74-78. Rusichi K. forced 20 Metallurg MGN turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Aleksey Makarov (192-92) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Center Ilya Luppo (205-94) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Stanislav Sarafankin (200-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Yuriy Trubin (206-94) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Metallurg MGN players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rusichi K. maintains ninth place with 3-6 record. Metallurg MGN at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Rusichi K.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Chelbasket (#7) in Chelyabinsk and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
