Regular Season Round 8: Anorthosis - Etha 63-61

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Division A took place in Larnaca. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Etha (4-3) to top-ranked Anorthosis (7-0) 63-61 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Etha won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Anorthosis won last quarter 17-16. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Diana Delva (187-88, college: Hartford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Christiana Menelaou (158-90) who added 13 points and 7 assists during the contest. American guard Maya Brewer (180, college: Wichita St.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and Styliani Theodosiou (175-96) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Anorthosis have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Etha at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Phoenix.
