Regular Season Round 8: Phoenix - APOP Paphou 72-57

Bottom-ranked APOP Paphou (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to fourth ranked Phoenix (4-3) 72-57. It looked good early as APOP Paphou took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Phoenix had a 24-11 second period charge getting the lead and APOP Paphou was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 57-72. They outrebounded APOP Paphou 55-32 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Wendi Bibbins (185-94, college: Indiana St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 28 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Charalambia Kalianou (176-99) supported her with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Phoenix players scored in double figures. Phoenix's coach Pantelis Konstantinou used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points by American guard Miyah Barnes (165-98, college: UAB) did not help to save the game for APOP Paphou. Point guard Rafaella Constantinou (168-98) added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Etha. APOP Paphou at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.
