Regular Season Round 15: MBA-2 - Unics-2 75-73

Twelfth-ranked Unics-2 (3-15) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked MBA-2 (10-6) in Moscow on Monday. MBA-2 managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-73. MBA-2 dominated on the defensive end, holding Unics-2 to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Unics-2 38-26 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Unics-2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Vladimir Tkachenko (200-2) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Guard Maksim Lichutin (189-0) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Serafim Koroteev (190-0) answered with 19 points and guard Alexey Pavlov (194-1) added 16 points in the effort for Unics-2. Unics-2's coach Andrei Kibenko tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for MBA-2. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Khimki-2. Unics-2 lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. MBA-2 will face Parma-2 (#10) in Perm in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Unics-2 will play at home against Samara-2 and hope to win that game.
