Regular Season Round 13: Uralmash - Samara 91-85

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Samara (8-1) in Yekaterinburg on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Uralmash (7-3) 91-85. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Samara. Uralmash dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Samara's 28. 26 personal fouls committed by Samara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Justin Roberson (187-93, college: ULM) stepped up and scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Maksim Kondakov (185-95, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. At the losing side point guard Daniil Axenov (183-95) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and Latvian power forward Artjoms Butjankovs (204-91) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Uralmash and five Samara players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Uralmash maintains fourth place with 7-3 record. Samara at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Uralmash are looking forward to face Ufimets Ufa (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Samara will play against the league's second-placed TSU (#2) in Revda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
