OPAP Basket League top team - Apollon (9-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked APOP (4-7) in Limassol 95-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of APOP. The game without a history. Apollon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to APOP's 32. Apollon forced 19 APOP turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by APOP's players. 24 personal fouls committed by APOP helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Derrick Gordon (190-91, college: Seton Hall) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Apollon players scored in double figures. Forward Tristin Walley (201-96, college: Arkansas St., agency: One Motive Sports) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and point guard TJ Washington (183-96, college: Utah Valley) added 10 points and 9 assists in the effort for APOP. APOP's coach Markos Asonitis gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Apollon have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-2 record. APOP at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Apollon's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Limassol to the arena AEL.
