Regular Season Round 15: Stavropol - Neftyanik 76-83

The game in Stavropol was quite interesting. Fourth ranked Neftyanik (9-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Stavropol (6-8). Neftyanik managed to secure a 7-point victory 83-76 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Stavropol. They outrebounded Stavropol 41-18 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Neftyanik looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for center Sofya Kornyenko (188-98) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Marina Sheveleva (183-89) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Neftyanik's coach Elena Lazutkina used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Albina Khamitova (186-94) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals and guard Lydia Petina (168-93) added 17 points and 8 assists in the effort for Stavropol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neftyanik maintains fourth place with 9-5 record. Stavropol at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Neftyanik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stavropol will play at home against UMMC Junior (#13) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
