Important game to mention about took place in Yekaterinburg. Seventh ranked Spartak SP (7-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 13th ranked UMMC Junior (3-9) 73-70 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Spartak SP forced 23 UMMC Junior turnovers. UMMC Junior was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Diana Popova (183-97) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Elena Melnikova (175-88) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. Four Spartak SP players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Anna Borodina (179-2) with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Darya Sidorova (176-1) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Spartak SP moved-up to sixth place. UMMC Junior lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Spartak SP will play against league's second-placed Kazanochka on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UMMC Junior will play against Stavropol (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
