The game in Maykop was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Metallurg MGN (6-5) played at the court of fifth ranked Dynamo-MGTU (7-4). Dynamo-MGTU managed to secure a 5-point victory 93-88 on Saturday. Dynamo-MGTU made 18-of-18 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by point guard Vladimir Chichaykin (186-91) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 assists and swingman Maksim Knyazev (200-96) supported him with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Even 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Aleksandr Matveev (193-91) did not help to save the game for Metallurg MGN. Power forward Stanislav Sarafankin (200-93) added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Metallurg MGN's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dynamo-MGTU have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Metallurg MGN dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Dynamo-MGTU will meet at home Chelbasket (#8) in the next round. Metallurg MGN will play against Dynamo STV in Stavropol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
