Regular Season Round 15: Irkut - Kupol-Rodniki 74-81

Bottom-ranked Irkut is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to eighth ranked Kupol-Rodniki (7-6) 81-74. Kupol-Rodniki outrebounded Irkut 46-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Alexandr Varnakov (184-92) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Alexey Vzdykhalkin (191-85) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Ilya Aginskikh (204-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and guard Alexander Martynov (197-95) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Kupol-Rodniki and five Irkut players scored in double figures. Irkut's coach Vadim Filatov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kupol-Rodniki have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Novosybirsk. Newly promoted Irkut still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Kupol-Rodniki's next round opponent will be Burevestnik (#8) in Yaroslav. Irkut will play at home against TSU (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
