Regular Season Round 17: Vasas Csata - ZTE NKK 86-62

Bottom-ranked ZTE NKK (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-62 loss to ninth ranked Vasas Csata (5-6) in Budapest on Sunday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to ZTE NKK's 30. They outrebounded ZTE NKK 45-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vasas Csata looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Guyanese forward Brianna Fraser (190-97, college: Maryland, agency: Wasserman) who scored 14 points. Serbian guard Nadija Smailbegovic (177-1) chipped in 13 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Vasas Csata's coach Milos Pavlovic felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Petra Szabo (184-87) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and Bosnian point guard Miljana Dzombeta (175-94) added 10 points, 10 assists and 5 steals respectively for the guests. Four ZTE NKK players scored in double figures. Vasas Csata maintains ninth place with 5-6 record. ZTE NKK at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Vasas Csata's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Budapest Csata.
