Regular Season Round 11: UMMC - Nika 99-42

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked UMMC as it allowed them to take a leadership position. UMMC smashed 5th ranked Nika in Yekaterinburg 99-42. UMMC held Nika to an opponent 23.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.6 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. UMMC outrebounded Nika 61-34 including a 45-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Nika's players. The best player for the winners was Bahamas-Bosnian center Jonquel Jones (198-94, college: GWU) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Breanna Stewart (193-94, college: UConn, agency: Wasserman) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Four UMMC players scored in double figures. UMMC's coach Miguel Mendez felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Viktoriya Sazonova (186-96) produced 8 points and 7 rebounds and Arseniia Matveeva (181-0) added 9 points respectively for the guests. UMMC (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Nika dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Sparta&K MR and Enisey. Nika will play next round against Spartak Noginsk trying to get back on the winning streak. UMMC will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Dynamo Moscow at home.
