There was no surprise in Moscow where 6th ranked Kupol-Rodniki (8-7) was defeated by third ranked Runa Basket (11-4) 80-66. Runa Basket had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard Addison Spruill (199-93, college: UNCW, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and guard Fedor Klyuchnikov (193-90) accounted for 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Runa Basket's coach Oleg Bartunov used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Point guard Alexey Vzdykhalkin (191-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Evgeniy Voytyuk (199-91, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Kupol-Rodniki in the defeat. Four Kupol-Rodniki players scored in double figures. Runa Basket maintains third place with 11-4 record having just one point less than leader Samara. Kupol-Rodniki at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Runa Basket's next round opponent will be TSU (#4) in Revda. Kupol-Rodniki will play at home against CSKA 2 and hope to win that game.
