Regular Season Round 12: Anagennises - AEL 57-54

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Division A took place in Limassol. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best AEL (7-3) to fifth ranked Anagennises (5-5) 57-54 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AEL won fourth quarter 15-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded AEL 46-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-95, college: CBU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Naturalized British Chrystalla Merkouri (182-75) chipped in 6 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Belizean power forward Demetra Papalla (184-3) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Anthia Papadouri (168-93) added 14 points respectively. Anagennises have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Phoenix. Defending champion AEL keeps the second position with three games lost. Anagennises' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Limassol to the arena Phoenix.
