Regular Season Round 2: Apollon - Keravnos 71-80

There was a minor upset in Limassol where Apollon was defeated by Keravnos 80-71 on Monday. Apollon trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 22-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 71-80 at the end of the game. Keravnos outrebounded Apollon 41-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Mike Morrison (206-89, college: GMU) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Deondre Burns (190-97, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in 22 points. International forward Rafail Eleftheriou (201-94, college: FPU) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Haanif Cheatham (197-96, college: Nebraska, agency: 011 Sports) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Four Apollon players scored in double figures. Apollon's coach Dimitrios Koukouris rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Keravnos will meet at home Apoel in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Apollon will play against AEK Larnaca and hope to win that game.
