There was no surprise when 6th ranked Samara-2 (2-3) was crushed at home by leader Unics-2 (3-0) 93-65 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Unics-2 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Samara-2's 34. Unics-2 forced 23 Samara-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 49-30 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Ilya Karpenko (199-1) stepped up and scored 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and center Stanislav Pinchuk (201-3) chipped in 13 points. Four Unics-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Vladimir Ponomarev (193-3) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Serafim Shkurin (187-2) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Unics-2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Khimki-2. Loser Samara-2 dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with CSKA Junior. Unics-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Samara-2 will play again against Unics-2 (#4) and hope to secure a win.
