Regular Season Round 4: Etha - Omonia 73-66
Date: October 25, 2021
Everything could happen in Nicosia at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Etha and 9th ranked Omonia had identical 1-2 record. This time Etha used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Nicosia 73-66 on Monday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-13. But Omonia won third quarter 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American guard Wesley Harris (203-97, college: Tennessee St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds and the other American import power forward Raheem Johnson (208-93, college: Buffalo) supported him with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Nathan Krill (202-96, college: USF) did not help to save the game for Omonia. The former international swingman Constantinos Pilakoutas (192-91) added 19 points and 4 assists for lost side. Five Omonia players scored in double figures. Etha (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Omonia lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Achilleas K. and AEL. Etha will meet AEL (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Omonia will play against Achilleas K. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
