Regular Season Round 5: AEL - Etha 84-71

There was a minor upset in Limassol where higher ranked Etha (2-3) was defeated by tenth ranked AEL (2-3) 84-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AEL. Etha managed to win fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Etha's 42. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was forward Corey Manigault (206-98, college: N.Mexico) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Brandon Averette (180-97, college: BYU) chipped in 32 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Wesley Harris (203-97, college: Tennessee St.) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Nick Garth (183-96, college: Lamar) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for the guests. Four Etha players scored in double figures. AEL moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Etha. AEL will meet Omonia (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Etha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nicosia ENAD.
