An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kazan. First ranked Runa-2 faced 4th placed Unics-2. Guests from Moscow (9-2) smashed host Unics-2 (7-4) 87-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Unics-2. The game without a history. Runa-2 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Runa-2 brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Unics-2 was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Vladimir Markovich (176-1) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points. Forward Sergey Grashkin (201-2) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Ilya Karpenko (199-1) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Sergey Polstyanov (194-2) added 15 points in the effort for Unics-2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Runa-2 have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Runa-2 maintains first place with 9-2 record, which they share with MBA-2. Unics-2 at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Runa-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Unics-2 will play again at home against the league's leader Runa-2 (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
