Regular Season Round 6: Anagennises - AEL 86-90

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Limassol: AEL (#3) and Anagennises (#2). Anagennises was defeated at home 86-90 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Anagennises. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-17 Anagennises' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 90-86 at the end of the game. It was a good game for American forward Shayla Cooper (188-95, college: Ohio St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Petra Orlovic (178-90) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. AEL's coach Pantelis Konstantinou allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-95, college: CBU) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Mezra Torlak (172-2) added 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Anagennises. AEL have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Anagennises. AEL will play against league's leader Anorthosis in Larnaca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Anagennises will play on the road against Keravnos in Nicosia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
