There was a surprise result in Kaimakli where eleventh ranked Achilleas K. (2-6) defeated higher ranked Anorthosis (3-5) 64-59 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Anorthosis won fourth quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international forward Georgios Tretiakov (195-0) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Fuquan Niles (211-95, college: CWU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Nick Banyard (203-94, college: UCF) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Michael Mallory (185-94, college: S.Connecticut) added 19 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Achilleas K. moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Etha. Anorthosis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Apollon and APOP. Achilleas K. will meet bottom-ranked ENAD (#12) in the next round. Anorthosis will play against APOP (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
