Regular Season Round 17: Neftyanik - Chevakata 64-61

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Chevakata (13-4) in Omsk on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Neftyanik (11-6) 64-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chevakata. Neftyanik forced 24 Chevakata turnovers. Center Nadezhda Matrosova (185-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Elizaveta Zaytseva (188-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Elena Mikhaylova (183-0) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Alina Zabolotskaya (179-93) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Chevakata. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neftyanik maintains third place with 11-6 record having just two points less than leader Chevakata. Chevakata at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Neftyanik are again looking forward to face league's leader Chevakata in Vologda in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chevakata will have a break next round.
