Regular Season Round 15: Neftekhimik T. - Tambov 102-100

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Tambov (12-3) in Tobolsk on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by eighth ranked Neftekhimik T. (4-9) 102-100. Neftekhimik T. made 41-of-44 free shots (93.2 percent) during the game, while Tambov only scored twenty five points from the stripe. 31 personal fouls committed by Tambov helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for swingman Georgiy Korotyaev (196-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Viktor Kashin (194-94) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was point guard Maxim Khoziashev (180-98) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Roman Balandin (205-97) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neftekhimik T. maintains eighth place with 4-9 record, which they share with Novomoskovsk. Tambov at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Neftekhimik T. is again looking forward to face league's leader Tambov at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tambov will have a break next round.
