Regular Season Round 11: Szolnok - Sopron KC 73-76

The most exciting game of round 11 in the A Division took place in Szolnok. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Szolnok (9-2) to twelfth ranked Sopron KC (5-7) 76-73 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Sopron KC looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward EJ Montgomery (208-99, college: Kentucky) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Quincy Ford (203-93, college: Northeastern) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Five Sopron KC players scored in double figures. Croatian center Marjan Cakarun (204-90) produced 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin forward Bojan Subotic (203-90) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sopron KC have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Hubner NBS. Szolnok at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Sopron KC is looking forward to face higher ranked Kaposvari (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Szolnok will play against ZTE KK (#14) in Zalaegerszeg and is hoping to win this game.
