Regular Season Round 11: Apollon - AEL 95-90

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Limassol: Apollon (#8) and AEL (#8). Apollon (5-6) won against visiting AEL (5-7) 95-90. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 56-46 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Mike Holton Jr (186-90, college: St.Michael's) who led his team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!). The former international point guard Stefanos Iliadis (185-94, college: S.Florida) helped adding 18 points and 7 assists. American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: ETSU, agency: Interperformances) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and the other American import center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Apollon moved-up to seventh place. AEL lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Apollon are looking forward to face higher ranked Keravnos (#3) in Strovolos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEL will play against Anorthosis (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
