Regular Season Round 21: Samara-2 - Khimki-2 74-84

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Samara-2 (4-17) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Khimki-2 (13-6) 84-74 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Khimki-2. Samara-2 managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimki-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Samara-2's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Vitaly Savitskiy (185-3) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 steals for the winners and Armenian forward Alexey Chizhenok (200-1) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Alexander Kalashnikov (196-2) with 17 points and center Marat Tsybikov (215-1) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimki-2 moved-up to fifth place. Samara-2 lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Khimki-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Samara-2 will play again against Khimki-2 (#5) and hope to secure a win.
