Regular Season Round 12: ENAD - Apoel 74-103

There was no surprise in Nicosia where 12th ranked ENAD (1-10) was crushed by second ranked Apoel (10-2) 103-74. The game was mostly controlled by Apoel. ENAD was better in second period 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to ENAD's 36. They outrebounded ENAD 48-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. Apoel players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by ENAD's players. It was a good game for Greek forward Konstantinos Simitzis (200-98) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. American guard Eric McGill (190-96, college: SIU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists for the winners. Four Apoel players scored in double figures. Apoel's coach Marios Argyrou felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Stuckey Mosley (190-96, college: JMU) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Finnish guard Kalin Fisher (188-96, college: Hampton) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for ENAD. Apoel have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with AEK Larnaca. ENAD lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Apoel will play against Keravnos (#3) in Strovolos in the next round, which may be the game of the day. ENAD will play against Anorthosis (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
