Regular Season Round 11: Anorthosis - Zinonas 54-29

Division A top team - Anorthosis (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Zinonas (0-11) in Larnaca 54-29. The game was mostly controlled by Anorthosis. Zinonas managed to win third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zinonas to just 2 points in first quarter and to 5 points in first half. Anorthosis held Zinonas to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.5 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a great evening for American center Diana Delva (187-88, college: Hartford) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. The former international guard Antria Pitsilidou (167-89) helped adding 9 points. Russian guard Tatyana Zelenoborskaya (176-96) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Greek Hannah Kruse (180-6) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anorthosis have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record. Newly promoted Zinonas still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Anorthosis are looking forward to face league's second-placed AEL in Limassol in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zinonas will play at home against ENAD (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
