Regular Season Round 18: Sopron KC - DEAC 100-75
Date: January 15, 2022
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Sopron KC and 5th ranked DEAC had identical 10-7 record. This time Sopron KC used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Debrecen 100-75 on Saturday night. Sopron KC dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to DEAC's 32. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. American guard Rickey McGill (185-97, college: Iona) notched 28 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Quincy Ford (203-93, college: Northeastern) supported him with 17 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even 17 points by Serbian swingman Djordje Drenovac (201-92) did not help to save the game for DEAC. The former international power forward Adam Toth (206-89) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Sopron KC and four DEAC players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sopron KC (11-7) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser DEAC dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Kormend and Kaposvari. Sopron KC will meet Hubner NBS (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. DEAC will play against Kormend (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
