There was no surprise in Luzern where 9th ranked Lugano (4-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Swiss Central (6-9) 79-74 on Wednesday. Swiss Central forced 20 Lugano turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Michael Phillips (202-90, college: Howard) who scored 22 points. Naturalized Belgian center Stan Leemans (203-92) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Swiss Central's coach Orlando Baer used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Markel Humphrey (198-87, college: Marshall) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Tony Criswell (205-91, college: Missouri) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Swiss Central maintains seventh place with 6-9 record. Loser Lugano keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Swiss Central will meet league's second-placed Massagno on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
