Regular Season Round 15: UMMC - Sparta&K MR 93-37

PBL top team - UMMC (16-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Spartak Vidnoye (7-9) in Yekaterinburg 93-37. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Spartak Vidnoye. UMMC dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Vidnoye's 32 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. UMMC forced 22 Spartak Vidnoye turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Spartak Vidnoye's players. It was a quality performance for Bahamas-Bosnian center Jonquel Jones (198-94, college: GWU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five UMMC players scored in double figures. Center Vera Kuchina (194-0) came up with 10 points and 5 rebounds and guard Elizaveta Balykova (173-98) added 5 points respectively for Spartak Vidnoye in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixteenth consecutive win for UMMC. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-0 record. Spartak Vidnoye at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. UMMC will again play against Spartak Vidnoye (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Spartak Vidnoye will have a break next round.
