Regular Season Round 15: Etha - AEL 93-80

There was a minor upset in Nicosia where 9th ranked AEL (6-9) was defeated by eleventh ranked Etha (4-11) 93-80 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Etha. AEL managed to win third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Johnathan Hudson (180-87, college: Texas A&M) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import guard Wesley Harris (203-97, college: Tennessee St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Etha's coach Dimitrios Koukouris used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: ETSU, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 39 points (!!!) and the former international swingman Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Etha maintains eleventh place with 4-11 record. AEL at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Apollon and APOP. Etha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena ENAD.
