Regular Season Round 21: Szedeak - Atomeromu 100-79
Date: February 4, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Atomeromu (6-15) was outscored by ninth ranked Szedeak (10-11) in Szeged 100-79 on Friday. Szedeak dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Atomeromu's 40. They outrebounded Atomeromu 37-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Szedeak looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Tayler Persons (191-95, college: Ball St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists for the winning side and the former international power forward Kristof Bognar (205-94) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Szedeak players scored in double figures. American point guard Ken Brown (180-89, college: Philander Smith, agency: BIG) came up with 31 points and Croatian Mislav Brzoja (198-94, college: Evansville, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 16 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Atomeromu in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Szedeak moved-up to eighth place. Atomeromu lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with ZTE KK. Szedeak will meet league's leader Szombathely on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Atomeromu will play against Duna Aszfalt (#10) and hope to secure a win.
