Regular Season Round 34: Novocherkassk - MBA-2 80-77

The most exciting game of round 34 in the Superleague 1 took place in Novocherkassk. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked MBA-2 (15-17) to seventh ranked Novocherkassk (13-17) 80-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MBA-2. Novocherkassk forced 23 MBA-2 turnovers. Strangely MBA-2 outrebounded Novocherkassk 43-30 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by MBA-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Masha Adashchyk (180-98, college: Minnesota) fired 43 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Irina Arhipova (178-98) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Guard Mariya Krymova (170-1) produced 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Anastasiia Badina (180-1) added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. MBA-2's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Novocherkassk maintains seventh position with 13-17 record. MBA-2 at the other side keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. Novocherkassk are looking forward to face higher ranked Chevakata (#3) in Vologda in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MBA-2 will play at home against Spartak SP and is hoping to win this game.
