Regular Season Round 32: Runa-2 - Unics-2 65-72

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Runa-2 (22-10) against seventh ranked Unics-2 (15-15) on Monday night. Host Runa-2 was defeated by Unics-2 in a tough game in Moscow 65-72. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Runa-2. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Runa-2 won third quarter 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Unics-2 won last quarter 19-13. The winners were led by guard Anatoly Gunter (183-3) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds and guard Sergey Polstyanov (194-2) supported him with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by center Boris Mitkin (205-2, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Runa-2. Forward Ilya Baranov (190-2) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unics-2 maintains seventh position with 15-15 record. Newly promoted Runa-2 keeps the third place with ten games lost. Unics-2 will play against league's second-placed MBA-2 in Moscow in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Runa-2 will play at home against N.Novgorod-2 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
