Regular Season Round 18: Massagno - Swiss Central 85-64
Date: February 8, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Swiss Central (7-10) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Massagno (14-3) 85-64 on Tuesday. The best player for the winners was American swingman Isaiah Williams (201-92, college: Iona) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian center Uros Nikolic (204-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Five Massagno players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Michael Phillips (202-90, college: Howard) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Joel Fuchs (189-89) added 15 points respectively. Swiss Central's coach Orlando Baer gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Massagno have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-3 record having just two points less than leader Fribourg. Newly promoted Swiss Central dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Boncourt. Massagno will meet league's leader Fribourg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Swiss Central will play against Nyon (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
